Session 4: Mac and Cheese Kids learned how a healthier choiced Mac and Cheese can be made that is just as delicious and satisfying as what they are used to. Students also learned about the many different shapes and sizes of pasta; and how to make a homemade cheese sauce for potatoes or pasta with 2/3rds less fat.
Session 5: Fresh Chicken BBQ Students learned about how much sugar really is in food products. They also learned about foods high in fat such as the chicken nuggets, french fries and many sausage style products. Kids learned that a healthy diet contains 10% - 25% fat. A demonstration of how chicken nuggets are made showed the kids how digusting this kind of instant food is and how bad it is for their health. Kids enjoyed fresh chicken with herbs along with homemade BBQ sauce.
Session 6: Nachos Knife skills were introduced to this wonderful group of kids as they cut strawberries, bananas, kiwi in order to make Nachos topped with Mango Yogurt and fresh fruit with grated chocolate. Then kids did a craft for the holidays of making colored sugars to decorate their family's goodies over the holidays.
